Crew Defeats TimberBarons Green 3-1

The Crew started a two game friendly fixture in Longview with a 3-1 win over TimberBarons Green on Saturday morning. The action began in the sixth minute when Luke was tackled in the penalty area. Jonathan went top shelf on the left side with the penalty kick to register the first goal of the game.

Play bounced back and forth until the 19th minute when Jonathan scored his second goal of the game unassisted. Right around the 26th minute the Crew peppered the defense with shot attempts but most were blocked at defense and two trickled through for shots on goal that were saved by the TimberBaron keeper. The rest of the half was uneventful. The TimberBarons mounted no serious threats and Nick had two saves.

Down 2-nil at the half, the TimberBarons came out with an early threat. One forward broke through the Crew defense when a pass was kicked into space and scored on the break in the 35th minute. The Crew pressured the TimberBaron defense in the 42nd and 43rd minutes. Justin sprang Michael (a guest player) free with a great pass and Michael had a shot that was blocked at defense, Jonathan hit the post and Justin took the rebound and drilled a shot into the keeper’s chest. After an attempted clear by the TimberBarons, Dylan (a guest player) sent a pass to Jonathan who flicked the ball to Andrew who finished with a goal.

One can’t talk accurately about the game without noting that Austin did an outstanding job with several game saving tackles that really diffused many TimberBaron attacks. The rest of the second half was quiet and Nick wrapped up the half with two more saves.
